Mystic Mountain
Intro:
“Zombie Evolution.”
“For we must consider that we shall be like a city on a hill.”
“So my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you---”
“Thank you, let’s sign these orders.”
“The eyes of all people are upon us,
So that if we shall deal falsely with our God and this work we have undertaken, And so cause him to withdraw his present help from us,
We shall be made a story and a byword throughout the world.
Verse One:
Barry looks at all the people living in his small town,
He likes to climb a ladder but his father tells him get down,
He wants to be a fireman and ride up in the big truck,
But his dad says he's too short and that he's outta luck,
So he makes a wish and wishes he was so much bigger,
Spends so much time at school trying to figure figure,
How to beat the stronger kids, how to win the games,
He's tired of being left in the dirt when it rains,
Coming home with dirty shoes, mom won't make him dinner,
Then his dad comes in and points another finger,
Reminds him how he's gotta listen 'cause he's just so little,
He stays quiet, thinks and thinks so he can solve the riddle,
All the other kids in class never seem to see him laugh,
Even all the teachers think it's odd the way the kid will pass,
Walking by himself he seems to always carry books,
He likes to look up but he always gives 'em weird looks.
Chorus:
You want to go to Mystic Mountain,
Far, far away from the people shoutin',
Search for that youthful, eternal fountain.
“If this were a dictatorship it’d be a heck of a lot easier. Just so long as I’m the dictator.”
Verse Two:
Barry went to college, then he made himself a lawyer,
Moved back home and said I got something for ya,
Worked his way to D.A. and now he's eyeing mayor,
He likes to smile everywhere but he don't really care,
Quickly backs up every law that gives the people trouble,
It's not long before he's got the town caught in bubbles,
But he's got a bigger project set to top 'em all,
Mystic Mountain, build a building, and get it really tall,
He bought up all the land, he used the people's money for it,
Sparing no expense because he's got the open warrant,
Brick by brick they lay his castle on top of the mountain,
Where he can look down at all the people from his fountain,
A big iron fence stretches all the way around ,
The people start to wonder what the hell is going down,
They open up the books and see what Barry really did,
He legally destroyed the town, now guess where Barry live.
“For all the Americans that are counting on us...”
Chorus:
You want to go to Mystic Mountain,
Far, far away from the people shoutin',
Search for that youthful, eternal fountain.
Verse Three:
Eric painted pictures on the walls with his graffiti can,
Took his skateboard with him everywhere, just try to get the man,
But the cops they never care, so he keeps on posting art,
Tell him 'bout Barry and he won't even know where to start,
He's the reason that his family went into that hospital,
Now they're so in debt that they just think that it's impossible,
Nearly all his neighbors live in Mystic Mountain's shadow,
So Eric fills his art with all these messages to battle,
Everywhere he looks he sees the people acting holy,
But as he looks up he sees the mountain rising slowly,
And in the distance he can see that man's house blazing,
He really wishes he would die, it'd be so amazing,
Eric rushes up the mountain, he wants to see it happen,
He finds Barry all alone, crying in his napkin,
He pulls him out the house, just before the thing collapses,
Eric looks into his eyes, he's struck by Barry's glances.
“Let me just say this, I’ve made my mistakes,
But in all of my years of public life, I have never profited,
Never profited, from public service, I’ve earned every cent,
And in all of my years of public life, I have never obstructed justice.
And I think too that I can say, that in my years of public life,
That I welcome this kind of examination, because people have got to know, Whether or not their president is a crook.
Well, I’m not a crook, I’ve earned everything I’ve got.”
“You want to go to Mystic Mountain.”
